Today there’s a new release of Pacnanny, a wrapper for the pacman
package manager (Arch Linux and derivatives). Pacnanny enforces good
pacman discipline by, for example, by automatically fetching news
before an update or by summarizing new pacsave
and pacnew
files at
the end of an update. This terribly minor release simply updates the
default method of displaying the news, which works by dumping it to
stdout via w3m
and then doing a bit of post-processing on it to make
it easier to read and to cut out some unnecessary junk.
If you’re interested, you can check it out over at Github (yes, it’s one of my few remaining projects hosted there). It’s also available to install from the AUR.
